Get Mac Looks in Ubuntu PC by Macbuntu

Hello guys, this is the second part of our guide How to get Mac looks in Windows PC, but this time we are not customizing Windows but we are transforming Ubuntu.

Let's see what is this:

MacBuntu (Macbuntu Yosemite/El Capitan) transformation pack is ready for Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial. This pack contains themes for GTK (which supports: Unity, Gnome, Cinnamon, Mate and Xfce two themes dark & light for Gnome Shell, two themes for Cinnamon, two icon packs, cursors.

Albert Spotlight (Alternative to Mac Spotlight)

Albert alternative to OS-X spotlight created by Manuel, it offers pretty much same features like Spotlight or maybe better than Spotlight. It is a selection-based search system, which creates an index of all items and files on the system. It is designed to allow the user to quickly locate a wide variety of items on the computer, including documents, pictures, music, applications, and System Preferences. You can set custom hotkey and modify search criteria for albert.

 Plank Dock

This time macbuntu choose Plank it seems a best choice for this pack because it doesn't have any kind of issues, it is lightweight and we are providing themes with this pack for Plank dock.


steps to get Mac looks:

step 1: get the file for MAC-transformation-pack-here.

step 2: extract the folder.

step 3: go to the folder and open terminal there.

step 4: run the mac-theme.sh file by command: bash mac-theme.sh

step 5: enter the password and wait till the download finish.

step 6: open Unity Tweak Tool and change theme to mac os-x.

step 7: change the cursor to mac os-x.

step 8: change icons to mac os-x.

step 9: configure the dock and the settings as per your need.

step 10: set the hot key for  Launchpad.

step 12: Customize your PC with Unity Tweak Tool if you need some more fun.


* this is best supported for Ubuntu 16.04  and some others and above please try it on your own risk.
